Sharlene

Sharlene’s daughter Kara reached out to me after finding out her mother has breast cancer a mere week and a half prior. It was important to both her and her mother that they have a few really nice photographs of Sharlene before her scheduled surgery this Wednesday (tomorrow). On a whim, we met up on a secluded dirt road in Ann Arbor (thanks to a few facebook friends for the location suggestion) for her session. Meet Sharlene – and send her some warm thoughts and prayers for her surgery tomorrow.

I am opening up 5 time slots on Saturday, April 28th, for our spring mini-sessions! The session location is TBA.

Each session will include 15-20 minutes of photographing on location

Mentor Sessions

This winter has kept me busy with the Mentor Sessions that I added to our menu of services. Mentor Sessions are only available during the winter months (Visual Poetry’s down time) and with each session includes a mini session of the included photographers. Here’s a few from two recent sessions!

Meet the lovely Meredith. She came to me with a plan to update her modeling portfolio. This face has graced television screens as an extra in some films as well as on stage for some theatrical events!

Bailey

Every so often a group of us put our brains together and come up with these fun, different shoot ideas and a few times a year we get to live them out! Here’s one of them. Meet Bailey, our model. Styling was done by my assistant, Lindsay Decker, and I and I even did make-up this time around. Hair was done by my awesome sister, Mya.

A Real Ham

I can’t believe I’ve forgotten to share our fourth star from the August mini sessions! Devin was a hoot to shoot – can you tell? He’s an aspiring model and boy, does he love the camera (and the camera loves him!) After every few shots, he’d run up to Jen and ask, “can I see?” and eventually reached into his bag of toys to show her his camera and take her picture. He was so much fun! He had his parents, Jen and I in stitches – switching between his “serious” face and his big, infectious grin. Enjoy these pictures as we totally, totally enjoyed our time with Devin!

When life gives you lemons…

… use them as props in an adorable family portrait! That’s just what Myla’s family chose to do – they brought the party (and the lemonade!) to Ann Arbor in our summer mini sessions a week ago! They were a blast to photograph – and how cute is Myla?! That dress! That flower in her hair! Grab a glass, grab a straw, and prepare to be won over by her infectious smile!
