I have spent heaping amounts of time in telling all of you why you should book me as a wedding or portrait photographer, but I havent spent any time in telling you about my goals and hopes when it comes to choosing which clients to accomodate. I know your dream wedding or portrait photographer is fun, affordable and produces some amazing photographs that show who you really are at that very moment. I know that you want professionalism, but that you also want someone that will open up just as they expect you to do in front of the camera. A real person, not an operator or a machine. A person that will return your phone calls.. someone honest and passionate.. someone who will make you laugh and be easy to work with and make you feel comfortable.

I expect all those things from my clients, as well. My ideal clients are fun.. and in love.. and real. People that put their own special touch on their wedding and got their hands a little dirty in it’s preperations. I love when couples arent afraid to think out of the box and be a little edgy.. a little different. My ideal clients know the importance of the photographs. They appreciate the memories we capture. The clients I love are those who love our style and don’t ask us to be any different!

This Saturday I am excited to photograph my first 2010 wedding! The season is going to start with a bang and I plan to have LOTS in store for you all.. including some blog posts that I’ve been slacking on posting!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce my new graphic designer, Stacey Peters! I have brought Stacey on board to assist me with my graphic needs, including album designs, marketing.. you name it! I have yet to scan in the featured page from the Metro Detroit Bride magazine.. but I did manage to scan in the Flint Journal’s Wedding Planner. I am excited that they decided on using many of my images for their Jan 2010 planner! This gets distributed at bridal shows and to Flint Journal recipients.

I am beyond lucky to have such amazing people in my life. Thanks to everyone who contributed to Saturday’s food drive! It was more successful then I ever could have imagined! Thanks to you, we’ll be feeding lots of Michigan residents hungry bellies over the next few weeks!

We were able to donate 496 POUNDS of food which equates to 496 meals for the hungry (1lb per person, per meal).

I am SO excited to continue charity and fundraiser events, such as this. Please stay tuned to this blog for upcoming events!

I need all of your help!

I’m hosting a food drive on Saturday, January 23rd from 1-4pm. We’ll be collecting any non-perishable foods for the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. I need your help in spreading the word and your support by coming to the drive and donating food!

And just to make it worth your while, for every 5 cans/boxes you donate I’ll be giving you a $20 studio credit! Or, exchange that credit for one facebook/myspace headshot!

I made an announcement on Facebook and Twitter a week or so back.. about how I was in search of deserving families for a special holiday gift. Many submissions were sent to me by friends and kin of those deserving families. Each story melted my heart. The Holidays have always put me in touch with how thankful I am and how lucky I feel – I wanted to let this great feeling rub off on all of you so you could feel the warmth a good deed can create. Giving feels amazing. Take a look around you; lend a hand. Often the gift that someone needs isn’t a monetary gift – but the gift of love, a shoulder to lean on, or just being that person they can talk to.

Choosing the winners was very difficult as I felt that everyone deserved this great gift! But, we narrowed it down to two. Here are our 2009 winners!

The Stevenson Family!
We have been told a lot of great things about this family. Trevor is 2yrs old and has an unidentified lung disease. His mother has been his rock throughout this trying time and recently lost her job after spending ‘too much’ time in the hospital with her son. There’s a special lung clinic in Seattle that little Trevor needs to attend for specialized treatment but Medicaid wont cover it. Danielle Priebe is the wonderful woman who nominated this deserving family – she is hosting a January benefit to try and raise enough money to send him to the Seattle Clinic! Danielle, if there’s anything I can help you with for the benefit please let me know.

The Nolte Family!
The Nolte family has had their fair share of hardships. Tracy and Jeff have two children, Kristina (13) and Jayden (3). Their story is a hard one to swallow. Tracy and Marvin were high school sweetharts - they got married and gave birth to a precious girl, Kristina. When Kristina was 3, Marvin was unexpectedly taken from them in a motorcycle accident. The year prior to Marvin’s passing, Tracy’s father was murdered in Arizona. After years of healing, Tracy married Marvin’s best friend, Jeff. The two of them had a little boy, Jayden. Just this past year Tracy’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Aside from making sure their own family is taken care of, the Nolte family has been making sure Tracy’s mom’s bills and housework is cared for. This family has gone through so much and Christy Deringer nomitated them by saying if she was able to bless one family this holiday – it would be them. I couldnt agree more.

I have an announcement to make, for those of you who haven’t heard.. visualpoetry officially is opening it’s doors to a STUDIO of our own! We will be located on the corner of N. Long Lake Rd. and Fenton Rd. in Fenton, MI. Yay! I’m expecting to have a grand opening celebration on November 14th, so keep your calendars open! We wont actually move in for another three or four weeks and once we do we’re going to be giving the place some personal touches of our own. By mid November we should be settled in and ready for you all to see it!
